My name is Jake Negvesky and I'm the President and Founder of Play Your Hand. I started this organization in December of 2013, and it has been my passion ever since. I found my inspiration for PYH after having a series of major surgeries beginning in September, 2011 through 2015. Those years were definitely not the easiest, but I would not trade any of it for the world.
My weeks spent in hospitals allowed me meet other children going through similar, and often times worse, situations. I realized that I had the power and the ability to make the lives of kids like me and families like mine just a little bit better. A little bit easier. And with that realization, Play Your Hand was born.
As for our name, it comes from something my dad has always said to me. "This is hand life dealt ya. It may not be the best, but play it right, and you could at least pull a pair."
I'm currently a senior at Texas State University in San Marcos, TX (Go Bobcats!). I'm majoring in Economics and am in the middle of the post-grad job hunt! I have always been heavily involved on campus and have worked to bring the PYH family to the university.
The picture to your right is of me and my family, who are 100% the reason I'm the person I am today. From left to right, that's me, my mom Kathlene, my dad Jayme, and my two (usually) great siblings Abby and Mason. They are all the reason I strive to be the very best person I can be every day of my life.
I would like to personally thank you for visiting this website and spending the time to learn about me, my family, and Play Your Hand. If there is anything I or this organization can ever do to help, please do not hesitate to give us a shout!
Thank you again,
